Dog Homemade Treats
Overcoming the Issues
Commercial treat manufacturers often don't have to worry like those of us who make dog homemade treats. Often they have a staff of trained scientists, a bunch of chemicals, and a lot of equipment to help them accomplish their objective: make lots of treats, that won't spoil, cheaply! When we started baking, we didn't know much of anything about baking dog treats. I just wanted to make good treats for our dog Sammy. He has a senstive stomach - and for him and me (selfishly so I wouldn't have to clean up the mess) - baking my own treats just made sense.
But dog homemade treats present a pile of issues (sorry for the pun) - from mold, to cracking, to being too hard, time consuming, etc. You name it, we experienced it. An many of you often contact us with questions in your business with great questions! So, we thought "hey, why not put together some information on overcoming the issues." Sorry it has taken us so long to get the hint... but we finally did!!!
Some of the common questions that we get are:
Help, my dog homemade treats have mold - how do I get rid of it / prevent it?
Should I dehydrate my dog treats? Will it help?
Will Vitamin E help solve my mold issue?
Where do I get the guaranteed analysis / lab info that is required on my labels?
Is there anything out there to help me with cutting out the treats? - It just takes so long.
My treats are cracking, what do I do?
Now, I have a Food Science degree - and I experienced many of the same issues that the questions above point out. Some times it is a matter of trial and error. But since we have pretty much made every mistake you can imagine here at Everyting Dog Treats - no need for you to have to suffer!
